To register your child for one of our preschool programs you will need to submit an online application. At
that time you will be placed on our waiting list and contacted prior to our next Open House.
How long is the typical
wait?
The waiting list varies greatly between classes and time of year. It is very common for the waiting period to be 6-12 months
long. Sometimes it is longer for the M/W/F morning class.
Where am I on the waiting list?
This is the number
one question asked! I try to let parents know when they get towards the top of the waiting list so that they can be better prepared
when their turn comes up. Please understand that the waiting list is a living, breathing thing. It changes frequently with
families being added on a daily basis, as well as others moving, etc.
Please keep in mind that sometimes children will
have birthdays while on the waiting list and will be automatically moved up to the next class’ waiting list. When this occurs
your original date of submission will be honored and you will be worked into the list based on your original date of application.
Can I come visit the preschool during class time?
The children always come first at Serendipity! Therefore, we do
not schedule tours during class time, so that the focus remains on the children in class at that time.
Twice a year we
open our doors for Open House. This occurs generally in February and October. Once your child is placed on the waiting list
you will receive an invitation to our next Open House typically 2-3 weeks before they occur.
How will I know when
a space becomes available?
You will be contacted via email when a space becomes available for your child. For this reason it
is very important that you submit a valid email address with your application. Most of our correspondence occurs via email in
the wee hours of the night, when all of our kids are sleeping!
Is there a registration fee?
Yes, there is a one-time
registration fee of $25. Please include this amount with your deposit when you complete your registration packet.
How
much is the deposit?
The deposit is equal to one half month’s tuition. This deposit may be applied to your last month of tuition,
provided sufficient notice has been given. Please see the contract for complete details.
Can my child attend
both the morning and afternoon sessions?
No, each class is designed specifically for the children enrolled. The program works
wonderfully in a three-hour time frame. In my experience children lose focus after a period of three hours and become very tired
from the structure of the program. Serendipity does not offer a full day program, daycare, or a before/after school program.
Does my child have to be potty trained?
No, they do not. I completely respect children’s individual time progression
and encourage them to set the pace in potty training. When children are ready to toilet learn they are able to complete this
process rather quickly. I have written my complete philosophy on this subject, please click here (insert link) to read it.
Most children can benefit tremendously from attending preschool regardless of their potty training status.
Are
you licensed?
Yes. I am licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services. They conduct continuous monitoring of our program,
surprise inspections, and maintain official paperwork on our preschool. This includes a complete background check, FBI database
search, fingerprint scan, current training documents, as well as a comprehensive set of standards on our preschool environment.
